Welcome to the Talawanda School District. Talawanda is a school district on the move and our students are doing better every day! I am very proud to report that Talawanda has earned an Excellent rating by the Ohio Department of Education.   Four of the five buildings have also earned an Excellent rating.  The preliminary scores indicate that our students achieved 25 of 26  indicators, a performance index score of 100.6%, attendance rate of 95.6% and a graduation rate of  98.7%.   I’m extremely proud of our dedicated staff that help our students achieve success. They are busy shaping the minds and creative thinking skills of our next generation of leaders.

In today's society, every student must graduate from high school and be prepared to go on to 4 year colleges, technology schools, and the workforce. Jobs for the future require 21st century skills, extensive knowledge of core content, and critical thinking skills that all students must obtain by taking challenging courses. I'm confident that the district curriculum and highly qualified staff will help prepare our students for the future.

You have my commitment to work with our faculty, staff, students, and parents to continue to make incremental progress.  The Talawanda Community strives daily to address the needs of every one of our students.  Through initiative such as our Student Assistance Program (SAP), District Wellness Program, School Climate Program (PRIDE), High Schools That Work initiatives, Title I, English Language Learners, and our Freshman Academy, we will continue to help students gain the skills and access the support they need to achieve personal success.

The Talawanda Leadership Team is dedicated and focused on finding ways to engage the community.  Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated as we continue to modernize our facilities in order to provide the best learning environment possible.  The new state of the art high school facility opened in July.  The staff and students are extremely grateful to the Talawanda Community for financially supporting the construction of this facility.
A quarterly update will be published in order to provide you with the latest district updates.  I encourage you to get involved in your public schools and work with us to continue to achieve “Excellence!”
