Mike Wright was outstanding in three sports during his career at Talawanda High School – football, basketball, and baseball. Mike is a 1963 graduate of T.H.S. and has also attended Miami University and the University of Cincinnati. Pound for pound, without doubt, one of the best and most competitive athletes ever at Talawanda. He has been a member of the Hamilton-Fairfield Jaycees , which included director of Youth and Sports programs.

Mike's strongest athletic achievements have been in his high school football participation. Some of his school records are:

• First in career total points scored (218)
• First (tied) in career touchdowns scored (32)
• First in career two-point conversions scored (13)
• Third in single season touchdowns scored (20 – school record for four years)
• Fourth in career rushing yards (1,956 – school record for 27 years)
• Fourth in single season total points scored (134 – school record for 4 years)
• Longest kickoff return for touchdown in T.H.S. history (105 yards)
• Only T.H.S. running back to score at least on touchdown in more than 15 career games. (Did it in 18 different games)
• One of only two T.H.S. running backs to score at least one touchdown in every game played during a regular season (10 games)
• One of only two T.H.S. athletes to score points in at least 20 games
• First T.H.S. running back to rush for over 1,000 yards in one season when he rushed for 1,004 yards in 1962. (School record for 4 years)

Mike's greatest achievement during the 1962 season was probably scoring four touchdowns in two different games.

We welcome Mike Wright to the Talawanda Athletic Hall of Fame.
