Joan Seibert was an outstanding athlete in the early days of Talawanda High School. during her four years at T.H.S., Joan was a member of the Girls Athletic Association, participating in volleyball, basketball, track and field hockey. During her senior year, Joan was president of the Girls Athletic Association.

It was in field hockey that Joan truly excelled. In 1964 when she graduated, Joan held three Talawanda High School field hockey records: single game goals (8), single season goals (20), and career goals, (47). She was elected the most outstanding female athlete in her class.

After high school graduation, Joan enrolled at DePauw University, where she played four years of field hockey and served as team captain.

Since graduation from college, Joan has been active in all kinds of sport activities including hiking, horseback riding, and running. In 1997, she earned a third place finish in her age group in a West Coast 5K race. She has also recorded excellent times in the 100 and 200 meter dashes as well as in the long jump, where she set a meet record for her age group.
