Bill has lived most of his life in the Oxford, Ohio, area. He attended Stewart School and graduated from Talawanda High School in 1959.

Bill became a starting fullback as a fourteen year old freshman while at Stewart, then went on to become a three year starting quarterback for Talawanda, with a record of 26 wins and 2 losses. Bill was also an outstanding competitor in basketball, baseball, and track. He was recognized as an “All-League Player” during his three years at Talawanda, and was the first athlete from Talawanda to be recognized at the state level as an “All-State” selectee.

After receiving his college degree, Bill returned to Talawanda where he taught for the next 33 years. His coaching efforts in football, wrestling, golf, and track continued the high athletic standards held by Talawanda. He led the “Braves” to three league football titles, two wrestling titles, one District Wrestling Championship, two state wrestling individuals, eleven league golf titles, one sectional golf championship, two state team participants, and one state golf team individual.
