Janis Taylor graduated from Talawanda High School in 1967. Janis participated in field hockey, volleyball, basketball, and track. Had letter points been given to women athletes during this time, Janis would have earned the equivalent of sixteen “T’s”.

Her accomplishments in volleyball included single game scoring records, as well as helping achieve undefeated seasons in her junior and senior years.

As an outstanding basketball player, Janis set the record for single game and season scoring. In track, Janis established a school and county record in the 440 yard dash and shuttle run.

In addition to being captain of the field hockey team in 1966 and 1967, Janis helped Talawanda achieve undefeated seasons during those years.

Janis was also recognized by Talawanda High School as the Outstanding Athlete of 1967, Outstanding Girls’ Athlete Association Member of 1967, and received the “Best Athlete Award” of 1967
