Marvin Wilhelm graduated from McGuffey School in 1950. After receiving his degree from Miami University, Marvin spent two years in Tipp City. He then returned to Oxford and served the Talawanda School District as teacher, coach, and administrator for thirty-three years, until his retirement in 1991.

Marvin is respectfully referred to as “Mr. Talawanda”, or simply, “Coach”. His coaching career consisted of: assistant and head football, head basketball, and head baseball. Marvin also started the swim and wrestling teams, serving as head coach for those sports, as well.

Marvin’s many “wins” for Talawanda athletics are an accomplishment in themselves. But, more importantly, his leadership in the Southwest Ohio Conference and the Mid-Miami League organization, helped create many positive opportunities for students to participate in competitive activities.

Marvin was also instrumental in developing “Pop” Warner football for the children of the Talawanda District; Talawanda “Pride”; and Tri-Recreation. Not only has Marvin been recognized as Citizen of the Year, but he had also had the distinction of having the Talawanda Middle School football field named in his honor.
