Margie Franklin
Margie Franklin was a 1972 graduate of Talawanda High School. During her four years of athletic competition, Margie participated in four sports including field hockey, track, volleyball and basketball. Margie played four years of varsity basketball, and three years of field hockey, volleyball and track. Margie’s leadership skills were evident as she served as captain for basketball, volleyball and field hockey teams.

Margie’s strength to the Talawanda athletic program was her versatility. She played all sports well, and often excelled well beyond those she was competing against. An example of this would be her record-breaking effort in basketball vs. Centerville where she scored 35 points! For years it stood as the most points in a single basketball game by a Talawanda player. Like many of our previous inductees, she was a clear choice as the “Outstanding Female Athlete Award” at Talawanda in her senior year.

After graduation from Talawanda, Margie continued her career at Miami University where she again played multiple sports including volleyball, basketball and field hockey.

Margie is currently living in Columbus, Ohio where she is employed as a loan officer for Huntington Mortgage. She also owns an on-line travel agency www.franklinconnection.com Margie is blessed with three children, Sue, Terrance and Juanita, and some of her most rewarding moments come from watching them competing in sports as she did. She also enjoys sitting on the porch enjoying quality time with her mother Juanita.

Tonight we recognize Margie Franklin for her athletic success at Talawanda High School, and welcome her into the 9th class of the Talawanda Athletic Hall of Fame!
