Don Krauth
The high school athletic career of Don Krauth is often remembered for his success senior year in 1957, on the first Talawanda varsity football team.

Don’s successes actually began in 1953 at Oxford Stewart High School where he excelled at football, basketball and track. Don was notably selected as the starting quarterback of the Stewart Tigers as a 14-year-old freshman in 1953! Although finishing only 4-5 as a team in 1953, Krauth lead the Tigers to a league co-championship his sophomore year season, including a victory over seven Mile High School that ended their 26 game winning streak! During Don’s junior year, he switched from QB to half-back successfully earning All League First Team honors.

As a senior, Don moved to the new Talawanda High School, and added more accomplishments to his list of successes at Stewart, as he led the 1957 “Braves” to an undefeated league championship. The senior co-captain once again was selected first team All League. His FB Coach John Trump contends that he holds the distinction of being the only Talawanda Football player to be named All League First Team at 2 different offensive positions. Don is further recognized as only one of three players in Talawanda history, who were varsity starters playing both offense and defense all four years of high school.

Named as the Outstanding Male Athlete as a senior, Don also was class president from 6th through 12th grades. He currently resides here in Oxford with his wife Alice. Their children Mindy, Debbie, Tom and Barry have blessed them with 8 grandchildren.

Tonight we recognize Don Krauth for his athletic success at Stewart and Talawanda High School, and welcome him into the 9th class of the Talawanda Athletic Hall of Fame!
