
After McGuffey, Connie attended Miami University where he continued his baseball career, playing three seasons, while earning a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in February of 1958. Connie served in the U.S. Army from ’54 through ’56 at Fort Knox and in Korea. While in the Army, Connie played baseball as a member of the 7th Infantry Division baseball team at Camp Casey, Korea in ’56.
After student teaching at Talawanda High School in ’56, “Coach Inman” began his career in teaching/coaching in Piqua, Ohio. He also coached at Dennison High School before returning to Talawanda High in 1959. He coached cross country, track and varsity basketball at Talawanda until 1965. Connie left Talawanda High School in ’65 to become a member of the faculty at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee from 1965-1976. During his career at Tennessee Tech, Connie coached tennis, freshman basketball, varsity assistant in basketball before becoming the head basketball coach for seven years.
Connie and his wife Norma live in Cookeville, Tennessee near their two sons and grandchildren. He remains busy with his own insurance agency, which he started in 1976
