
In baseball, Thad was a 3-year varsity starter who excelled at the plate. His career batting average with the Braves was .300
In ‘90 and ’91, Thad was also recognized for his defensive play by being awarded the Talawanda Golden Glove Award, led his team in home runs, and was named first team All MML his senior season.
In football, Thad helped the Braves win two MML titles, and a very memorable trip to Welcome Stadium for a Division I district championship victory over the #1 state ranked Princeton Vikings, and then a regional championship game vs. Centerville.
Some of Thad’s football accomplishments and records include team MVP (’91), 3 time all MML selection, THS Honor Athlete (’91), Most PAT’s/game - 7 (’91), Longest Field Goal 44 yds. (’91), season receiving yds. 1017 (’91) , total points scored 166 (’91), Most FG’s/season – 5 (’91), Most PAT’s/season – 40 (’91)
For his efforts Thad was selected first team All City by the Cincinnati Enquirer, first team All County by the Journal News, first team All District by the Associated Press and finally All-State Division I by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
Thad continues to live in Butler County with his wife Chasity and their 7 year-old twin sons Trent and Cort. Tonight we recognize Thad Persinger for his athletic success at Talawanda High School, and welcome him into the 9th class of the Talawanda Athletic Hall of Fame!
