TMS E-News August 10, 2012

Dear Students and Parents,

I would like to welcome you to the start of the 2012-2013 school year at Talawanda Middle School. As the new incoming principal, I am thrilled to get the school year started.

Over summer break, our staff was hard at work to insure the smooth opening of our schools for the 2012-2013 year. We are anxious to meet the students joining us for the first time, and welcome back all of the students returning. Our instructional staff has been hard at work preparing lesson plans, revising curriculum, and examining new programs and technology integration.

We have several new teachers this school year. Mr. Huelsman will be teaching 6th grade science. Mrs. Otto will be teaching 7th grade science. Ms. Krause and Mrs. Huxel will be teaching 6th grade language arts. Mrs. Edwards will be teaching 7th grade math. Mrs. Ballard and Mr. Senters will be intervention specialists. Mrs. Chandley will be our new cafeteria manager, and Mrs. Wessel is our new school psychologist. We are so happy to have them as part of our team!

Also, some of our current staff members have moved to different positions in the building. Mrs. Binegar will be teaching 8th grade language arts. Mrs. Kettlewell will be 8th grade science replacing Mr. Plank. Mr. Gloeckner will be teaching 6th grade math. Mrs. Walters will teach 7th grade math replacing Mrs. Fitch. Mr. Brock will be teaching math intervention, and Mrs. Smith has moved into the literacy lab.

As parents, I hope you will be an active partner with us, whether you choose to join our school’s parent-teacher group, volunteer at the school or take part in special events. We welcome your involvement in our school.

6th Grade parents please join us for 6th Grade Orientation on August 16th at 6:30 p.m., and 7th and 8th Grade parents please join us for Meet the Teacher Night on August 21st at 6:30 p.m.

I also encourage you to stay in touch with your child’s teachers and with the administration if you have any questions during the school year. Working together, I know we can make this a great year at Talawanda Middle School and I look forward to partnering with you this year to help your child learn!
