Kramer E-news 9/7

Happy Friday!  I hope everyone enjoyed the long, Labor Day weekend last week.

We have had another great week at Kramer.  The instruction and engagement in the classrooms is great!  The teachers have the students focused on their learning targets, and are getting them use to the rules and routines in their classrooms.

Our first PTG meeting of the year will be held on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 7:00 pm in the Kramer cafeteria.  Please come out and hear all of the great projects that the PTG supports, and feel free to volunteer.  We have an active PTG, and always welcome new people to join us.

Picture day is Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Please remember to send your picture envelope with your child.

In the Friday folder you will find information from the Kramer PTG about the Kramer Carnival.  The date on the flyer is not listed correctly; the correct date is Saturday, October 6, 2012.  Please see Melisa Decello or Debbie Crowder if you would like to volunteer for this great fundraiser.

Joan Stidham, Talawanda Curriculum Director shared the following information on the new Common Core standards with me.  I have also attached grade level information about the Common Core. These are great resources from national PTA to share with parents.  Here is a great video on standards designed for parents.http://www.ode.state.oh.us/GD/Templates/Pages/ODE/ODEDetail.aspx?page=3&TopicRelationID=1695&ContentID=128304&Content=129780#.UEjt3VQQj9I

Mr. Iles, Assistant Principal at TMS shared the following information with me about Progressbook and smartphones:I called SWOCA and verified this - ProgressBook is currently NOT compatible for smartphones. Karen Lehman from SWOCA said that they are working on a solution for this and it SHOULD be available in the next few months.

As part of the 7th Annual Sandy Hormell Book Celebration, award-winning author Shelley Pearsall will give a public presentation at the Oxford Community Arts Center at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, followed by a reception, book sale, and book signing at the Oxford Lane Library.  Ages 10 and up.

Thank you to everyone that has visited, and stopped by to say, “Hi”.  If there is anything that I can do, please don’t hesitate to stop by and see me.

Have a great weekend! If you are going to the 1st Miami home football game, Go Hawks!
