Earlier this school year, Mrs. Rainey asked her 4th graders to record their food intake. She was amazed at the lack of vegetables they listed. She decided to introduce more variety to the class. With the help of Mr. Rainey, they presented a plate with 7 mystery veggies and using the scientific method, the students tried to match the new veggies to a list of possible names. Students observed texture, appearance, taste (their choice), and tried to determine the identity of jimica, English cucumbers, zucchini, chickpeas, snow peas, tomatillo, and broccolini. Chickpeas was a popular item that the students wanted to continue to taste and try.
